Artworks selection criteria

With respect to considerable number of diaspora artists and stylistic variety of their works, the Fund has set criteria for purchasing and collecting works of art.

Artworks selection criteria:

1. Chronologic. The Fund plans to purchase only authentic pieces of art, which have been created since XX century up to nowadays.

2. Artistic. The Fund plans to purchase authentic works of art consistent with the chronologic criteria (Paragraph 1), which have been created by professional artists and craftsmen in emigration. Pieces of art, which during the years of political stagnation and cultural isolation could not reach Lithuania.

3. Stylistic. The Fund plans to purchase authentic works of realism, impressionism, post-impressionism, modernism and postmodernism art consistent with the chronologic and artistic criteria (Paragraph 1-2).

4. Other criteria and exceptions. The Fund plans to purchase historically significant Lithuania art valuables, which might not be consistent with one or several criteria indicated in Paragraph 1-3, but thematically, typologically or otherwise may be eligible or required for creation of certain exposition or for complete achievement of the Fund’s vision.
